2-19-18 ~ Aliens, Conferences, and the sweet smell of Success

Hey Y'all.....The title says it all this week!!

The past 3 days we have been Roswell for Zone Conference and also Stake Conference! Didn't get abducted by aliens so that is a blessing;) It was kinda weird going back to all the flatness...loving the mountains here!! But Roswell is pretty sweet! Would not mind serving there at all! People are crazy, but so is everyone in West Texas so that's nothing new! Stake Conference was great. They spoke so much about member missionary work, the Book of Mormon, and service! Thinking about it it fit this area perfectly! There are so many people out here that have mixed ideas about the church! And it truely has helped with having great members that seize the opportunity to get out and take hold of that missionary opportunity!! I challenge y'all to do the same!! Because even in Rexburg, Idaho there are people that don't know much about the church! Pray for missionary chances and they will happen!!!
This week we also had one of our main investigators commit to be baptized on March 31st! And cool story too....so his Girlfriend is a member, but they aren't married, so on March 31st we are also going to be having a wedding at the Church in Mescalero!! So keep the date and take the drive out here;) Kidding, but we are pumped!! So keep them in your prayers!! There names are Arturo Garduno and Edith Morgan!!

Hope y'all have a killer week!! The church is true and God loves you!:)

HERE ARE NOTES THAT WE HAVE ENJOYED THROUGHOUT THIS LAST WEEK-INCLUDING THESE INSTAGRAM POSTS FROM PRESIDENT AND SISTER HALES... LOVE SEEING POSTS FROM THEM!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THESE PICS CAME THROUGH A TEXT YESTERDAY, 2/18/2018 -FROM A SISTER IN ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO
THIS SISTER'S DAD IS THE SEMINARY TEACHER AT SUGAR CITY, BROTHER HORNER. HER DAD HAD TOLD HER TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ELDER ROSE, AND SHE FOUND HIM AT STAKE CONFERENCE YESTERDAY! SHE ALSO TOLD ME THAT SHE IS COMING TO IDAHO MID-MARCH, SO SHE WILL CATCH UP WITH ME AND I CAN SEND A CARE PACKAGE FROM HOME! YAY!!
THIS IS HER COMMENT TO ME, " I WAS HOPING IT WASN'T WEIRD TO ASK HIM FOR YOUR NUMBER. MY FRIEND HAS A DAUGHTER OUT ON A MISSION ON TEMPLE SQUARE AND SHE GETS ALL KINDS OF RANDOM PEOPLE TEXTING HER PICTURES AND GIVING HER UPDATES :) I FIGURE THAT'S LESS LIKELY TO HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE NEW MEXICO - SO I HAD TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITY! HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY!"
THANK GOODNESS FOR A SISTER FOLLOWING A PROMPTING. IT MADE THIS FAMILY'S DAY!
2/12/18 ~ Colors of the Wind
This week has been a great one out here on the REZ!!!
So we had a miracle yesterday at church!! We had 5 new investigators at church! And Cameron Tsinnijinnie, the one i mentioned last week, he asked if he could bear his testimony for a few minutes and it was one of the most powerful testimonies i have heard! It has been awesome being able to serve out here in Mescalero! If you all could please remember Cameron in your prayers this week again that would be awesome! He has still been struggling with many things and could use that extra lift!!
In these past 2 weeks I have taught more lessons than I have my whole mission so far super grateful for this time that I have to be a missionary and to serve the Lord and help bring others closer to Christ.
I don't have much to say today, but I want to want to bear my testimony that I know that this Church is the only true Church on the Earth! Heavenly Father loves us so much that he sent us his son to come to earth and create the atonement! Through the Atonement that Christ performed, we are able to find peace, joy, and relief! I challenge you all to turn to our Savior. He will lift you up in times of need. He is the only one who knows what we are going though, and has been through it all! Learn of Christ, Love Christ and Serve Christ! And as you do those things you will be happier. I love this gospel and I am grateful for all of you guys and my relationships that I have with all of you! I wouldn't be where I am today without you all. Thank you.
Hope y'all have a great week and remember our Savior.
Love,
Elder Rose
2/5/2018 ~ Super Bowl and Drunks
I'm at a payphone
Well, this week has sure flown by! To start the week we had transfers. We were told that we were going to have to be in Hobbs NM at 6:45AM.....so we ended up having to leave Ruidoso at 3:30 AM to get there in time! We were pushing and making good timing and all the sudden everyone in the car has to use a bathroom....so we stop in Artesia, NM at this little ghetto gas station at 4:45. So we are all waiting to use the restroom and the lady up front yells for us to use the Womens.....so I walk in there and this dude is snorting a line of cocaine right off the toilet seat..... so I bust up laughing and walk out and this dude comes out and says "She is all your's bro" so I go in and when I come back out the other Elders are talking with this dude and he was stoned out of his mind!! So funny..... we ended up saying something about the gospel that made him mad and he about threw a punch but we made it out of there alright! And that was all to start the morning!!
So transfer days are always hectic.....so I was in Hobbs, NM until 8:30 that night....and we didn't get back home until 11:30.....so crazy!
This week has been dang good though we have picked up a few new investigators that are pretty on the ball so far!! We have been working with this guy all week and he wanted to come to church so we rode over there with the Branch Prez. to pick him up and he was hungover so that was a bummer but hopefully this week is just as good as last!! His name is Cameron Tsinnijinnie, and he is an excommunicated member that basically changes his life in jail! He studied and read so much of the BOM and Bible that the first time we went over....he was basically teaching us it was insane! SO if Y'all will pray for him that he will be able to overcome his drinking that would be awesome!!
Also last night we went over to a members house for dinner and all of his family was there watching the Super Bowl....and man they are nuts! Too bad the Eagles won tho;)
Other than that life is good!
Hope y'all are doing great back home!
1-29-2018 ~ Sniffling and Coughing
Hey Team!!
This week was good , but very long!! Elder Batty caught the crud and we ended up having to stay in the apartment for a good 3 days in a row!! We were still able to get out and do some work though! We have been working with a less active family the whole time I have been here in Mescalero so far, and the son in the family plays bball!! and actually pretty dang good! We went for a few minutes one night to one of his games.....and man....Rez ball is NUTs haha we saw l2 fist fights within the 20 minutes that we were there ha! You would have thought that they were playing football instead of basketball!! Pretty Entertaining!!
We also have been picking up quite a few Investigators even this week where we weren't able to accomplish much! Everyone in the Branch here has been a huge help with finding us new people to work with!! On an average Sunday we get about 12 people to church....counting us.....but yesterday we had almost 28! It was great to see that little tiny Chapel so full!
If you all will pray that we will continue to find success here working with the less active members and help them regain that testimony!!!
Time and time again on my mission I have learned that there are times to speak up, times to stand up, and times to shut up.....and that lesson can go even in life!! Sometimes we get put in situations where we should say something.....sometimes we get in places where we need to stand up for our Standards....and sometimes you just need to sit back and realized that you can learn something from someone!! There is a member here in Ruidoso that reminds me just of my Great Grandma AJ.......She is a hoot! And has taught me some amazing life lessons in just the few dinner appointments that we have had with her!! I encourage you all to take a time this week to humble yourself and just listen to what someone else has to say and promise that if you do it with the right mindset you will learn something!!
Hope y'all have a blessed week!
Love,
Elder Rose
1/22/2018 ~ Another week in Paradise
Hello everyone!!
This week has flown by...... feels like the longer I am out, the quicker everything goes by! Pretty crazy to think that I hit my 6 month mark this week!!
This week consisted of  Zone Conference, exchanges, service, eating some dog at a Birthday Party, and a killer Sacrament meeting!
We Headed up to Roswell on Tuesday morning for Zone Conference.....left at 6:30 and got do drive while the sun was rising....and man that was BEAUTIFUL!!  The mountains surrounding made it even better! Zone Conf was good.....found out that we get phone in March and also a Facebook, pretty crazy to think that Missionary is going to Change that much in just a short amount of time! It will be such a blessing though! After we got back from Zone Conf, we had an exchange with the Ruidoso Elders! We did lots of chopping wood this week and we go to this thing that the Apache's have called the Elderly Center....basically like a Senior Center, except the people don't live there....we cook and serve food for the people there!! Met this guy there and his name was One Stab....he also had 4 tear drop tattoo's by his eye...pretty sketchy hah!
Yesterday for sacrament meeting we were blessed to have 2 High Councilmen come down from Roswell, and they both gave some great talks! The one thing that stood out to me the most though was the one guy said...... " Mistakes don't define us, but the refine us." And that is exactly what they really do. We are here on this earth to learn and grow, and sometimes it is hard....we all have our faults, but when we come to acknowledged that we aren't perfect and the only person to ever be was our Savior Jesus Christ....that's when we truly learn and grow for ourselves! No matter what we have done in the past we can be forgiven. Heavenly Father wants us to be happy and progress, and the way we can best do that is by coming closer to Jesus Christ and having him take that burden from us!
Love you all and Hope you have a great week!!
Sorry no pictures this week....emailing on an ancient computer haha.
Love,
-Elder Rose
