Match Makers, and off to Lubbock - 4-23-2018

Howdy Howdy friends and Family!!

Well we got our transfer calls last night and I found out that I am being shipped off to Texas!! I will be serving as a Zone Leader in Lubbock!! I am super excited and a little bit nervous!! But I found out that my area is the ghetto of Lubbock, so I won't have much change from what all of my other areas have been;)

Showed up to District Mtg with face masks
This week was a good one!! We didn't have a ton of things happen but Cameron Tsinnijinie, an X Member that we have been working with for a while now....well him and his X-Wife got remarried on Friday!! That was super cool to be able to be apart of! And also Cameron is on the right track to be baptized again!! I am positive that in a month or two he will be!!

This week we also found the drug cartel here on the Reservation, pretty crazy!! They all had super nice white cars with there "nicknames" on the licence plates!!! I am still alive......and also we also saw an attempted murder! Just an average week here in Mescalero!!

I also had the opportunity to speak yesterday in sacrament meeting!! I was asked to speak on member missionary work! To be honest it was a super hard topic until I thought of all the things that I have seen help people change while I have been here on my mission serving! A few things that really helps soften peoples hearts are developing Christ-like attributes, service, and not being afraid to talk to people who you feel you should!! I Have noticed that as I have studied about my Savior I have come to love people that I would have had the hardest time getting along with back home!! I also had come to know of the importance of having a firm foundation in his teachings.
As we emulate his teaching in our lives, life really is easier!!

I challenge you all to study about our Savior this week, whether it is 5 minutes or 5 hours.
I promise that it will help you in the simple things in your lives!!
Have a Great week!

Que Paso Mi Amigos - 4/9/2018

Howdy Family and Friends,

First off, I just need to clarify that y'all are very gullible....... ha Last week I wrote a letter saying that I was being shipped off to Portland, well at the bottom of that I wrote APRIL FOOLS ha, so got ya;) Thanks for all of you guys who were actually curious to know though:)

This week has been a crazy one!! I don't have time to write all of the details, but to start the week we went to Roswell and played P-Day sports with all the missionaries there. It was a blast! Then that night we stayed there in Roswell for Zone Conference the next day! Zone Conference was great until my companion had a seizure. The next couple days were pretty long because he was drained of energy and strength but we were still able to get some work done!!

This week we also had the opportunity to be apart of some of the Mescalero Apache traditional "Feast". Here is a link to what really all that happened if anyone is interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1Cx_9YDQEc
We went there and offered service to help them out in any way that we could! And I learned something while I was there.....I figured out what makes a Red Man red.......standing in a Tee Pee making Fry Bread around a fire for 2 hours...... makes white boys red too! Ha and I still smell like smoke!! Also while we were there I got offered a hit off of the Cheif's peace pipe......I turned down a once in a life time opportunity right there;)
It was sure cool though to see the culture here!!

Love y'all and hope that everyone has had a great week!!!

How Bout Conference?? - 4-2-2018

Hello Everyone!!!

This week has been a great one!! To start out the week me and Elder Stilson went to the Elderly Center to do some service! That was a mistake........we show up to see 50,000 eggs ( no joke there really was 50,000 eggs!!! We had to boil all of them and color them all too for an Easter egg hunt that they were putting on the next day!! It took from the time we showed up until about 3 in the afternoon......I never knew that boiling and coloring eggs was so strenuous but I felt like I had just got out of a football game afterwards ha!!  The next day our Zone Leaders came down from Roswell to go on an Exchange with us. To start the morning we went to the Elderly Center again to help them out to HIDE all of the eggs...... that took forever and a day. But it was well worth helping them out with that because we got to watch all of the Elderly People go hard in the Easter egg hunt afterwards!! They cleared out all the eggs within like 20 minutes! After that we went and got to serve them all lunch and do the Chicken dance with them!! After we were done at the Elderly Center, me and Elder Nabrotzky went to chop some wood for a lady that we gave a Blessing to early in the week. Towards the end of the night me and Elder Nabrotzky went out to do some knocking. We were out and found this lady that seemed super interested. We set up a return appointment, left her with some Restoration pamphlets and headed somewhere else!!

The next day me and Elder Stilson went back to Denise's house. We showed up and she pulled out the pamphlet and it was marked up like she had had it for a week!! We ended up teaching it to her again even though she probably could have recited the whole thing to us. We told her a lot about how our Church focuses on the Resurrection of our Savior. She then told us about a story that her Mom told her when she was little that has been past down from generation to generation. She told us that her Mom told her how Christ came down to visit the Native Americans many years ago and taught about repentance and loving one another. And she said there was only one problem. Nobody had ever written it down........ What a smack to the face of a reassurance that the Book of Mormon is true. Through the tears I continued to tell her about 3rd Nephi when Christ comes and visits the America's. Soon enough she was in tears too and committed to read the Book of Mormon. We had a great lesson with her and when we were about to leave we asked her if there was anything else that we could do for her, and she said come back over tonight for dinner. She is an awesome lady that is truly searching for the light of the Gospel in her life.

This week I also had the great opportunity to listen to General Conference. Many new changes that will push us closer to becoming life our Father in Heaven. One talk that stood out to me was President Dallin H. Oak's. He talked a lot about how we need to focus on the little things in our lives. It is when we do things like reading the scriptures, going to church, saying our prayers, and serving others...that is when we make it possible for the Spirit to be in our lives!!! Live worthy to be led and Guided by the Spirit. I was so grateful to hear from our beloved Prophet. I know that he is called of God and I sustain him in his calling! Just like the Primary song Follow the Prophet says.....we need to FOLLOW him!! I know as we try and emulate the teachings and guidance he gave us, it will be easier to live righteously in wicked world!!!  Hope Y'all had a great April Fools and even Greater Easter Weekend.

Love Elder Rose

This was a picture we sent to Elder Rose this week. We were coloring eggs before Easter, and there happened to be a heart appear as this egg was colored.
It was beautiful.
I wanted Elder Rose to know that we love him so we emailed it to him on his P-Day.

Zone Conference pictures were posted by President and Sister Hales on 4/3/2018. We are so grateful that they put pictures on Instagram for us here at home to see what fun they are up to and to see those smiles. :)

BIG NEWS ----- 4-2-2018

Howdy Y'all....So I got some big new the other day!!!

I got a call from the First presidency on Saturday between Conferences and they have asked me to now serve in the Portland, Oregon mission. They told me how rare this really is. I don't have lots of details now but love y'all. The Church is true and Jesus loves you.

I'm a day late, but APRIL FOOLS😁😂

Afflictions or Blessings ~ 3-26-2018

Hello Everyone!!

To start off this week I went on exchanges with Elder Thatcher...he is actually from Homedale, Idaho..... He is a stud!! I stayed here in Ruidoso with him and we did work in his area! It was weird to actually do missionary work in a normal town again......it was a pretty average day! Did some service for a Catholic DI basically, had a couple lessons, did some knocking and got into a Bible bash!! To end the night we went on splits with the Stake President of Roswell. He is so sweet! He is a retired FBI agent that has done tons of cases in Mescalero....no I have even more stories about this place haha!!! While we were on splits President Maguill took us to a Steak House called K-Bob's.......it is normally a hit but that night it was a miss..... we all got food poisoning!! The next couple days I couldn't keep down anything that I was eating......
The next couple days after that consisted of preparing for our Boy Arturo's baptism. I am so grateful that I have been able to be apart of his conversion. He is an awesome guy! We had the baptism on Saturday and then we confirmed him a member and got him the Priesthood yesterday! What an amazing experience!! Also at the baptism we met a few of his wife's family members that we will hopefully start teaching!!

This week I was reminded of the story of Job. Job was a very well of guy. He had land, money, and a happy family! In the story of Job Satan asks the Lord if he can tempt Job. Satan makes Job absolutely miserable. Job does not know what he has done wrong in his life to be punished this much, but he always tries to look towards the positive of things! In 1st Nephi Chapter 1 in the 1st verse Nephi is talking about his life. He was born of goodly parent and has seen many blessing but also afflictions in his days!! If you looks in the footnote of affliction it means that afflictions means blessings also!! I came across that this week and I thought I would share it because there is so much truth to that!! Every time that I have felt like I was going through something hard.....looking back the only thing that that made me do is grow. With trials we see growth. Heavenly Father knows how we feel and knows what we are going through! He wouldn't let us suffer any longer than he knows we can't handle! Every time that I have felt down, I know that I can turn to the Lord for comfort. I know that we are blessed with things like the Book of Mormon, the Bible and Family and friends on this earth to make life a little easier. This life isn't about the complex things it is about the simple things!! Look for those simple things that make you happy this week and I promise life will seem easier!!
Have a great week everyone!!
Love, Elder Rose
