Afflictions or Blessings ~ 3-26-2018

Hello Everyone!!

To start off this week I went on exchanges with Elder Thatcher...he is actually from Homedale, Idaho..... He is a stud!! I stayed here in Ruidoso with him and we did work in his area! It was weird to actually do missionary work in a normal town again......it was a pretty average day! Did some service for a Catholic DI basically, had a couple lessons, did some knocking and got into a Bible bash!! To end the night we went on splits with the Stake President of Roswell. He is so sweet! He is a retired FBI agent that has done tons of cases in Mescalero....no I have even more stories about this place haha!!! While we were on splits President Maguill took us to a Steak House called K-Bob's.......it is normally a hit but that night it was a miss..... we all got food poisoning!! The next couple days I couldn't keep down anything that I was eating......
The next couple days after that consisted of preparing for our Boy Arturo's baptism. I am so grateful that I have been able to be apart of his conversion. He is an awesome guy! We had the baptism on Saturday and then we confirmed him a member and got him the Priesthood yesterday! What an amazing experience!! Also at the baptism we met a few of his wife's family members that we will hopefully start teaching!!

This week I was reminded of the story of Job. Job was a very well of guy. He had land, money, and a happy family! In the story of Job Satan asks the Lord if he can tempt Job. Satan makes Job absolutely miserable. Job does not know what he has done wrong in his life to be punished this much, but he always tries to look towards the positive of things! In 1st Nephi Chapter 1 in the 1st verse Nephi is talking about his life. He was born of goodly parent and has seen many blessing but also afflictions in his days!! If you looks in the footnote of affliction it means that afflictions means blessings also!! I came across that this week and I thought I would share it because there is so much truth to that!! Every time that I have felt like I was going through something hard.....looking back the only thing that that made me do is grow. With trials we see growth. Heavenly Father knows how we feel and knows what we are going through! He wouldn't let us suffer any longer than he knows we can't handle! Every time that I have felt down, I know that I can turn to the Lord for comfort. I know that we are blessed with things like the Book of Mormon, the Bible and Family and friends on this earth to make life a little easier. This life isn't about the complex things it is about the simple things!! Look for those simple things that make you happy this week and I promise life will seem easier!!
Have a great week everyone!!
Love, Elder Rose
